Commvault Platform 2023E is our annual long-term support release and will revolutionize the way businesses handle data protection and security. Our platform offers organizations unprecedented insights into your own data, allowing them to make better decisions and reduce complexity. Furthermore, multi-cloud support with enhanced mobility ensures that data can be moved between clouds securely and quickly while improved scalability and performance for mission-critical operations provide peace of mind. 

New and enhanced automated threat detection capabilities allow you to implement early warning systems to keep your systems safe from malicious actors, while ubiquitous recovery for hybrid workloads ensure that data is always available when you need it most. Commvault Platform 2023E provides an all-encompassing solution to help protect data more effectively than ever before.

Data, Secured - Proactive Capabilities to Improve Data Security

Data protection is shifting to not only include backup & recovery operations, but to include data security aspects to help mitigate risks of ransomware and cyber-attacks. With this in mind, we are bringing advanced analytics and integrated capabilities that offer a comprehensive approach to proactive data security. 

Commvault Risk Analysis allows organizations to identify, categorize, and classify sensitive data to limit exposure and ensure compliance. It takes the capabilities of File Storage Optimization + Data Governance and adds new automation capabilities and intelligence to give you more control to reduce risk. Existing customers will be able to leverage your same entitlements for File Storage Optimization and/or Data Governance with the new Risk Analysis solution. Compromised credentials are involved in nearly 50% of cyber incidents. Securing credentials and reducing the risk of them being exposed should be part of every organization’s security strategy. How can you manage secure access for the dozens, hundreds, or even thousands of service accounts needed to provide access for infrastructure, development applications, and data protection? Our latest integration with CyberArk to the rescue! With dynamic credential management, you can rest easy knowing Commvault is not storing credentials for privileged access. Instead, we leverage Just-In-Time access, thanks to CyberArk. This allows our platform to request access, leverage credentials for a short period of time, and upon completion of our tasks the credentials are revoked.

Another key area we are focused on securing is virtual networking. We announced Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) protection as an Early Adopter feature in the previous, Platform Release 2023, back in February. We are now bringing this capability to all Commvault software customers. This allows you to protect the VPC, in addition to the workloads inside the VPC. Our capabilities will ensure you can programmatically recover VPC configurations, retrospectively audit changes over time, spot configuration drift and more.
 

Data, Defended - Early Warning of Cyber Risks

In the digital world of today, defending your data is paramount. As enterprises become more dependent on technology to operate, you face a greater risk of potential cyberattacks. The Commvault Platform Release 2023E offers users an enhanced level of security with its automated threat detection. Leveraging behavioral analytics, this platform detects anomalous activities that can signal a possible breach or attack and sends out an alert to take immediate action.

Commvault Threat Scan is an automated security solution that helps protect backup data from malicious threats. It identifies compromised backup content such as malware and encrypted files and allows users to quickly quarantine and recover clean data. With Commvault Threat Scan, you can be confident that your backups are secure and recoverable, without added complexities for IT admins. Commvault Risk Analysis, eDiscovery & Compliance, and the Commvault Community are additional resources available to users.

Commvault Auto Recovery is a secure, automated data protection platform designed to protect and recover data in near real-time. Commvault Auto Recovery is a new product that combines the functionality of Commvault Disaster Recovery with new capabilities for securely recovering your data. With its advanced features, such as IntelliSnap and NAS integrations, automated protection anywhere, and cost optimization, the platform can reduce operational costs and simplify scalability for maximum workload portability. With Commvault Auto Recovery, you can ensure business continuity and secure your data in a cost-effective way. 

SecurityIQ is coming to Commvault software customers! SecurityIQ is a powerful tool for businesses to stay ahead of evolving threats and drive better security outcomes. With SecurityIQ, you can score and validate your security posture against native controls, track unauthorized modifications to configurations, restores, and user logins, locate threat applications within backup content, and prevent unwarranted deletion and restore attempts with multi-authorization approvals. SecurityIQ also offers advanced features such as AI-powered anomaly detection, pre-ransomware restore points, and the ability to isolate malicious datasets for safe recovery without reinfection. With it, businesses can stay one step ahead of security threats.

With Commvault Platform Release 2023E in place, you can ensure your data is defended from malicious threats while also helping ensure availability. Data, Recovered - Ubiquitous Recovery for Hybrid Workloads

Data is a critical asset for any company, and the safety of it must be maintained. Commvault Platform Release 2023E adds new capabilities for data security and accessibility. It enables you to secure hybrid workloads while ensuring secure access by supplying an integrated solution that works with on-premises, cloud-based, and edge locations. 

With sustainability front of mind for most organizations, we are expanding our protection to AWS Graviton based workloads and the ability to leverage Graviton for Commvault infrastructure. Every customer can stand behind better sustainable performance with lower cooling, improved energy efficiency, and similar or better performance for lower costs.

Another new set of capabilities in PR2023E is having an architecture that supports large datasets (PB+). We’re bringing new fault tolerant capabilities to better handle node failures and improve our scalability so all customers can enjoy lower RTOs and more frequent RPOs for object storage.

One last area to touch on are all the improvements coming to HyperScale X, our intuitive scale out solution that is integrated with the Commvault Data Protection platform. We’ve done a lot of work to mitigate downtime during scale out operations and during patches & updates. You will see a lot of new capabilities coming at GA.
